Star Formation and ISM Dynamics

The star formation and ISM dynamics group at ZAH works on different aspects of stellar birth at present day as well as in the early universe and on the dynamics of the interstellar medium (ISM). 

We study interstellar turbulence and the formation and evolution of molecular clouds.

As our work relies heavily on computer simulations, and so we are also involved in developing and improving numerical methods for astrophysics.

Head of the star formation group at ITA is Prof. Dr. Ralf S. Klessen.
