Research interests
My research revolves around cool stars, here primarily their surface layers. I develop and apply 3D radiation-hydrodynamical models, sometimes including magnetic fields. Moreover, I model non-equilibrium thermodynamic processes. Applications of my models are related to stellar structure, the chemical composition of stars (particularly when metal-poor), nucleosynthesis processes, Galactic structure, asteroseismology, and stellar pulsations. Every now and then I follow a side-interest in astrobiology.
